The NZ Tour

The NZ Tour is an exciting new event series to discover New Zealand's top badminton players. The tour features four regional events and the New Zealand National Championships, and culminates in the invitation-only NZ Tour Finals.

The NZ Tour Finals will feature the top eight players and pairs in each event, competing for a great prize pool.

Why Should I Play?

Better Competition

With New Zealand's top players vying to secure a place in the NZ Tour Finals, the stakes couldn't be higher. More players and stronger opponents will provide an increased challenge in every event - only the best will succeed.

More Prize Money

All tour events will offer at least $2,000 prize money, with further prize money to be won at the NZ Tour Finals. This guarantees a minimum of $12,000 prize money on offer throughout the tour.

Higher Standards

Organisers of tour events will be required to meeting higher standards for tournament delivery to improve the player experience, including greater referee support, more matches umpired, longer rest time between matches, and improved timelines for entry processes, draw and schedule publication.

Who Is Eligible?

The tour is open to all players who are a member of, and in good standing with, an association affiliated to Badminton New Zealand, or a member of an affiliated member of the Badminton World Federation.
Note: Players in the New Zealand National Championships must additionally meet the requirement of being a "New Zealand Player."

How Do I Qualify?

All players participating in the NZ Tour will earn ranking points in the Race to the NZ Tour Finals. After the final qualification event, players will be invited to contest the finals, with the highest-ranked eight entries being accepted in each event.
Note: Ranking points for NZ Tour events are awarded to a pair for doubles, not to individual players. Your tour ranking is based on your best four results in the NZ Tour events.
