The NZ Tour

New Zealand's Best.

The NZ Tour is New Zealand’s premier badminton series - a national circuit that brings together our best players and rising stars.

Across four regional events, the New Zealand National Championships, and the season-ending NZ Tour Finals, players battle for ranking points, prize money, and the title of NZ Tour Champion.

The Journey

  1. Regional Tour Events: Open tournaments held across four regions of New Zealand.
  2. National Championships: The pinnacle domestic event on the calendar.
  3. NZ Tour Finals: An invitation-only showdown featuring the top eight players and pairs in each discipline, competing for major prize money and national glory.

Why Play the NZ Tour

Stronger Competition

With the country’s top athletes chasing Finals qualification, every event offers deeper draws, tougher matches, and higher-quality badminton. Only the best will make it through.

Bigger Rewards

Each tour event offers at least $2,000 in prize money, with additional cash prizes at the NZ Tour Finals - a minimum total of $12,000 across the season.

Better Experience

NZ Tour hosts deliver elevated tournament standards: referees, more umpired matches, better scheduling, and improved communication - so players can focus on performance.

Who Can Enter

All players who are members in good standing with an association affiliated to Badminton New Zealand or the Badminton World Federation are eligible.

Note: To compete in the National Championships, players must also meet the “New Zealand Player” eligibility requirement.

How to Qualify for the NZ Tour Finals

Players earn Tour Ranking Points at each event as part of the Race to the NZ Tour Finals.
After the final qualifying event:

  • The top eight players or pairs in each discipline are invited to compete in the Finals.
  • Doubles rankings apply to pairs, not individuals.
  • Your best four results from NZ Tour events count toward your overall ranking.
