Badminton Canterbury’s Carrie Wilson is spending the week in the United Arab Emirates, participating in a BWF pilot Level 1 Coaching course for current and former Para badminton athletes.

The New Zealand SL4 Para badminton athlete, and Oceania title holder is one of twelve participants selected for the course, for her community contributions in Christchurch coaching able-bodied and para badminton members.
Carrie, a relief teacher by day, currently coaches a group of para athletes in Christchurch weekly.
“Badminton Canterbury is really excited for Carrie to gain her Level 1 certification alongside fellow para athletes in Dubai."
Badminton Canterbury's Coaching & Development Manager, Jo Christie comments, "I look forward to seeing her return with more confidence, more sport specific coaching knowledge and fresh ideas - which will benefit her and the promising athletes we have here."

The course is held from the 16-20th January at the Ajman Club for the Disabled Sports Hall in Ajman City, UAE. Badminton New Zealand thanks the BWF, West Asia Badminton Federation & Badminton Oceania for this unique opportunity.
