The Junior New Zealand Badminton League (JNZBL) is back and ready to showcase the best Under 15 and Under 19 talent from across the country. Across three days, the event features a condensed format that promises to deliver fast-paced and exciting matches.
With twenty-four of the country's brightest young badminton players split across four teams in two age-divisions, the JNZBL promises to be an intense and thrilling event. The teams will compete in a round-robin and play-off format, playing all six matches, to the best of five games, to 11 points with no extension if tied at 10 apiece. The six matches will feature Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and two Mixed Doubles.
If the teams are tied at 3 matches apiece, coaches will select a Golden Game by process of elimination, adding to the excitement and tension of the event. The JNZBL will also provide an opportunity for junior players to experience the intensity of the original NZBL and to build new friendships and partnerships with players from different associations.
Coaches, Kenneth Yew, Anona Pak and Jonathan Curtin return to the JNZBL for a second year, accompanied by fellow NZ Junior Squad coaches, Tracey Hallam, Nick Chambers, Fanny Megahwati and NZ Senior squad members, Erena Calder-Hawkins joining the mix.
